Keep it clean when replacing a clutch.

When it comes time to install a new clutch to your car, truck forklift etc, many people forget that user/part cleanliness is imperative to ensuring no damage can occur to any new/existing components and the longevity of the clutch is not compromised.

The fitters hands should always be clean and free from any oils or grease that may cause contamination to the facings. The gearbox bellhousing and clutch fork should also be cleaned (and lubricated where necessary). This is done because when operating the clutch inside an enclosed bellhousing, a vacuum is created and will potentially suck any old facing material or bits of debris into your brand new clutch assembly.
